Honey and its mention in the Holy Quran:
1. Honey is mentioned in the Holy Quran:
- Honey is mentioned twice in the Holy Quran:
- Surah An-Nahl: Verse 69: “And your Lord inspired the bee: ‘Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct. Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you].’ There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.”
- Surah Muhammad, verse 15: “In it are rivers of water that is not stagnant, rivers of milk whose taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink it, and rivers of purified honey.”
2. Properties of honey:
- Healing for people: Scientific studies have proven that honey has numerous health benefits. It is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial. It helps strengthen the immune system, improves digestion, and relieves cough and cold symptoms.
- Food of the people of Paradise: Honey is mentioned in the description of Paradise in the Holy Quran, which indicates its great value and benefits.
3. Honey in the Prophetic Tradition:
- Numerous prophetic traditions indicate the virtues and benefits of honey, including:
- What Al-Bukhari narrated, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: “Healing is in three things: a cupping incision, a drink of honey, or cauterization with fire, and I forbid my nation from cauterization.”
